86%. That's the share of Americans, across both parties, who want to ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks.
You will not get 86% of this country to agree on almost anything. But on this, we're nearly one mind.
And it still hasn't happened. A bill to stop it landed in January, got a standing ovation from both sides, then vanished.
The reason it's stuck tells you everything about the game you're playing in.
They sit in classified briefings before the public hears a word, and they trade the companies they're briefed about. That's it. That's the whole thing. You already knew it, and so does everybody else, which is how you get 86% of a country that agrees on nothing to agree on this.
In January, a bill showed up to stop it. The Stop Insider Trading Act. It would bar members, their spouses, and their kids from buying individual stocks, and force them to give a week's public notice before selling.
A Senate version followed.
The President called for it in the State of the Union and got both sides of the aisle on their feet.
Then the first quarter of the year came and went. No floor vote.
The bill is stuck. Not because the public doesn't want it. The public wants it about as badly as the public wants anything. It's stuck because the people who have to pass it are the same people it's built to stop.
That's the whole problem, right there in one sentence.
Now, I'm not here to tell you how to vote. I'm a trader. I'm here to tell you what this means for your account.
You can stay angry and refresh the news, waiting on a vote that keeps not coming. Or you can accept what the informed money leaves behind, and learn to see it.
Because here's what I mean by that, and I'd bet you've felt it without having a name for it.
A stock you own drifts higher all week and nothing explains it. No news, no upgrade, no reason. You check the headlines twice and come up empty.
Then the following Tuesday the reason shows up on your screen, the stock gaps, and the move you missed was the one that already happened. Or you buy into a great earnings report and the thing sinks on the news, because the people who already knew were handing you their shares while you were celebrating.
The trade that makes no sense on Monday makes perfect sense on Thursday. Every time.
That's not bad luck. That's somebody moving before you, and the market showing you the wake they left. Most traders see it and call it noise.
It isn't noise. It's a pattern, and it repeats, and it can be spotted while it's still happening instead of after you've paid for it.
That's what I built.
It runs on a schedule, one signal a week, and it doesn't care whether the person on the other end of that trade wears a suit on Capitol Hill or runs money out of a strip mall. It only cares that somebody's moving like they know something.
This Thursday at 7pm ET, I'm walking you through the whole thing live. Not theory. You'll see the actual signals, real examples on the screen, and exactly what it looks like the moment informed money starts moving. Then I'll show you how to read the same thing I read, so you stop finding out on Thursday what somebody else knew on Monday.
This is happening Thursday, live, one time. Free, with a Q&A at the end where you can ask me anything.
