The Calm AFTER the Storm

Yo Pit Crazies,

There was a wicked good storm here in Maine on Monday.

On Tuesday, the skies were blue and the ground was lush.

The birds and the fisherman were out working the channel.

It’s the same story after every storm since humans could speak.

Including financial storms.

The Fed will speak today after setting a course of rate hikes.

That is the storm that has been brewing for several days.

The calm is what I am interested in.

I cover that here today … and in tonight’s MARKET SURVIVAL SUMMIT starting at 8 p.m.

Because know this:

If you want to profit, you need a post-storm plan.

A Market Survival Plan!

Griff and I were working on a Power Gains plan and, funny enough, Bill came up with the same conclusion I wanted – long volatility breakout play

The idea is long the VIX and long the SPDR S&P 500 trust ETF (Ticker: SPY).  Normally when we talk about the trade we want, Bill brings the macro picture and I fill in some blanks on the trade idea.

This time we had an easy consensus on long VIX, long SPY – the trade for after the storm, I like to call it.

I even did a rundown on it in my OP Mentoring Class.

If the storm continues – and it might – I want to be long VIX.

If the calm sets in, I want to be long SPY

The plan is to ride out the calm or the storm.

Tune in tonight and be a storm rider.

I closed the last of my iShares China Large Cap ETF (Ticker: FXI) for a 50% gain and now am looking to ride the calls up.

Mark closed his ExxonMobil Corp (Ticker: XOM) call flies and put for a 33% gain. He added a second round, as well, looking for a bounce in  oil.
