I learned my lesson.

The charts told me we were topping out on Wednesday afternoon and heading lower on Thursday. Did I take the short position? No. Because our headline-driven President was giving a speech.

He comments on the market all the time. I figured he'd say something positive.

The market hated what he had to say and gapped down 100 bucks on Thursday morning.

So my lesson learned: don't try to decipher what the President is saying or any other headline. Simply trade what's in front of you. The price dictates where we're going. Trust your charts. They're telling us the story.

Of course I'll still try to keep up with what's going on. But I'm not sure anyone really knows the answer. And I mean anyone.

But I do know one woman with conviction.
