Frank Made the Call and Nuclear is the new plastics

I date myself somewhat but one of the most famous scenes in the movies is a solid capitalist telling a young Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate, “Plastics”. Mrs. Robinson and plastics, what a weekend for the young Dustin. Anyway, Frank and I struck some gold in Cameco Corp (Ticker: CCJ) this week.

You think Nvidia Corp (Ticker: NVDA) had a good year? Ha! CCJ is up well over 100% this last year. Frank’s call on the Nuclear sector replacing the old Green Energy helped 2 accounts for me.

Go Frank. It helped Capitol Gains too with a 146% winner.

As a reluctant 3 year Physics major in college I understand a bit about energy. Solar and wind will never be reliable enough. France runs the whole country on Nuclear Energy.

So the next development is rather big, even though it is very small.

Time to recycle the CCJ gains into NuScale Power Corporation (Ticker: SMR)

I made about $800 or so on my CCJ trade. Not life changing dough. However, that will buy me 400 shares of SMR with house money. Frank and I covered the idea of SMR in class with the idea of small scale nuclear reactors powering cities and businesses in a decentralized power grid. It might also drive the cost of efficient, green energy to sub-zero.

SMR is highly speculative because the company needs a first trial and build. The tech appears to be there but it needs to get the reactor up. I think once it gets one up there will be many others. General Electric Corp (Ticker: GE) and BWX Technologies (Ticker: BWXT) also are in the reactor business. I own BWXT but a lot more CCJ. I am taking my first punt in SMR with my CCJ call largess.
