Yo Pit Crazies,
Below is a monthly chart of the SPDR S&P 500 index with daily candles …
What had looked so promising when inflation slowed the pace of gain last month gave way to the reality of insane energy prices in the EU and the Fed bringing memories of the great Fed Chair Paul Volcker.
Volcker was so good he helped unwind the savings and loan crisis of the early 1990s after he left the Fed.
The difference between Volcker and current Fed Chair Powell is that Powell owns the current mess. Volcker fixed someone else’s mess. To get his street cred back, J-Pow will have to be tough.
That is not good for stocks.
Worst Four-Letter Words: Need, Wish Hope, Want
Well, when it comes to trading that is.
Those are tough 4 letter words, since everytime I invoke them it almost always leads to a mess one way or another.
My favorite four letter word trading is time.
With practice, traders can use it to their advantage since the market prices time differently depending on the VIX Zone we are in.
If you want to learn to use time to your advantage, there is no better place than my SPYMaster. Check it out.
Right now I own SPY put spreads and I will let time or the market work out paying for them.
The Rundown
SPY Master
I closed SPY Aug31 425/416 put vertical spread and VIX Aug31 21 puts closed for a 2% gain. That does not sound like a lot but I closed my SPY put spread for a 60% gain and had a free roll on VIX dropping post-Jackson Hole, so I went for it.
To Your Trading Success,
