The Market Writes the News Before Reporters Do

Hey Trader,

I'm sitting here staring at my screens and I'm frustrated.

The Emerging Markets ETF (EEM), just made an all-time high. Microsoft is sitting near a 52-week low. To put that in perspective, since September the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) has gone nowhere while EEM is up 40%.

That's not a blip.

That's a massive rotation happening in real time. Money is leaving the names that carried the market for two years and pouring into corners that most people stopped watching a long time ago.

I can see it. But I can't fully read it yet. My setup isn't where it needs to be. I'm still waiting on my Bloomberg terminal, and without it, I'm piecing things together with duct tape and sticky notes. It's like staring at a book written in a language I used to be fluent in, but I left my dictionary in a storage box.

And that frustration is actually the point of this piece.

Because here's what most traders miss: markets run on narratives. But the price action itself is the narrative. It's not a reaction to the story. It is the story, being written in real time, before anyone publishes a headline about it.

When you know how to read price action, you're reading that story as it unfolds. You can start connecting dots. You can look for the parts of the market that haven't caught up to the narrative that's developing.

That's where opportunity lives.

Think about how news actually works: The smartest money knows what's happening, or what's about to happen, and they act. Other traders notice the movement and jump in. Prices move. Then the news desk looks up, sees something going on, and starts writing about it. Trying to figure out what already happened.

The market wrote the story. The reporter just summarized it.

People always ask me what news feed I use. My answer surprises them. “It doesn’t really matter”.. Not because I don't read the news. Because the price action IS the news, before it's news. The right tools and the right framework tell me what's happening before the headline gets written.

That EEM/QQQ divergence I mentioned? That's a perfect example. By the time international rotation becomes a consensus narrative on financial TV, the move will already be well underway. The price action is screaming it. If you know where to look, you're early. If you're waiting for confirmation from a headline, you're late.

Right now, I'm feeling firsthand how much the right tools matter. I know there's a story unfolding across these markets. I can see the edges of it. But I can't read it as clearly as I need to because I'm not fully set up yet.

It's a good reminder that this infrastructure isn't a luxury. It's the difference between seeing the market clearly and guessing at what you think you see.

That's part of what I want to show you with Reboot. Not just the trades. The process. The toolkit. What it actually takes to go from watching the market to reading it. Bloomberg makes my job easier. But the foundation I'm going to teach you doesn't require it. You can be ahead of most of the people out there. Ahead of the news, with the tools you already have now. You just need to learn the language.

The price action is telling you the story right now. Most people just don't know how to listen.

I'm going to teach you how.

Speaking of reading the story before it becomes news… there’s a pattern forming in the Treasury market right now that I think is about to drive headlines for weeks.

I've been watching it build.

I'll walk you through it tomorrow.
