The Long Weekend

Yo Pit Crazies,

If you have not signed up for Licia Leslie’s Prima Pitchfork class do so here.

The weather is warming up in Maine and the clammers are back.  This fellow will get $2.50 per pound pulling out 5 50lb (bushel) bags in a session.  For those light on clamming info, check out this link.  It is hard work but it pays.

Me, I am still trying to clear all of the fallen trees out of my cove that got crushed in early April.  I am sure the clammer, who is a nice gent, appreciates the work I am doing to clear things out.  It is good exercise at the end of the day moving logs and setting up the biggest bonfire ever.  It has been a very active winter with many calamities here on the G rock in Maine but things are coming together in the spring.  Look for my “how not to clam” video coming soon.

The trees growing too big on the coastline is a problem.  The cliffside dirt is too shallow to support huge trees so they always end up in the water ripping up the shore line.  They need to be cut down and have new ones pop up.

A lot of trading is like my little cove parable.

Sometime positions need to get cut

No one tells you when to close a position.  It is the hardest part of trading in my opinion once you learn the basics of how options work.  OP sends out alerts, so that helps.  Sometimes positions are in the middle zone, like standing dead trees that need to get cut down.  Not a total loss yet but very little chance to get better.

I think it best to just kill those and move on.  I have an Apple Inc (Ticker: AAPL) trade in the Trading Desk that I am likely to kill for that reason.  My duration was too early and the market is too strong for my put calendar to pay.

Time to cut the tree and plant a new one.

To Your Trading Success,

-AG
