Day 5 of the Ice Report. It was colder today but the ice is finished breaking up and a nice high tide will pull most of the chunks out to sea. It mostly fractured around the edge of the water line so it will give up the ghost shortly. I can continue my Tony Soprano moment as the Eider Ducks will pop in soon and the Horseshoe Crabs soon after that for the big spawning session. Maybe I can get lucky and catch the outgoing tide as all the ice goes out to sea.

Speaking of seas, it appears that the Strait of Hormuz is still closed. That is creating the sad market pattern of stocks moving lower and VIX just inching higher. We are close to two weeks in and the MSM believes we have made no progress. It is hard for me to believe considering Iran has been degrading by 90%. However, that is still 10% open, which is causing the lack of liquidity we see.
In better news, lack of liquidity is creating longer term opportunities.
My new scanner goes online soon, and I am very excited about it. The idea is to find trades and investments that will go up tomorrow. I think people will like what they see. But for the most part, those trades will be past the current action.
VIX and SPY are totally disconnected

See above a 27 VIX should about 1.7% move in SPY. SPY can not generate more than a .61% move on the day. Traders do not want to sell their stocks. It is almost like they know stocks will be lower tomorrow.
While that sets up the long term, stocks will be lower in the short term and VIX will stay sky high.
