Yo Pit Crazies,
The FOMC delivered an early rate cut this week, landing between Wednesday and Thursday—possibly fueled by Oracle Inc (Ticker: ORCL) blowout earnings. Hot on the heels of that, the Ellison clan is rumored to be setting their sights on Warner Bros Discovery (Ticker: WBD), a name I held calls in as one of my final Flash 10 positions. I exited with a $2 gain, only to watch it climb another $2—but a win’s a win.
The Ellisons are on a hot streak this week—and so is the average investor, with stocks hitting all-time highs. That’s right, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (Ticker: SPY) is now up a staggering 150 points, or roughly 30%, from the April lows.
Meanwhile, traders betting on a meltdown are getting steamrolled and squeezed.
After some fine-tuning, our squeeze indicator is lighting up across the board—something big is brewing.
Rocket Mortgage Inc (Ticker: RKT) is getting hard to borrow
Below is my Edge Hunter Hard-to-Borrow sheet, which has been showing a steady rise in short interest rates over the past several days. Interestingly, the stock has also been climbing. If I wanted to short it, the cost would keep increasing, as I’d be paying a higher short interest rate to do so.
With all the strong data out, I expect the broader market to take a breather until Wednesday.
Traders are anticipating a rate cut, and if it comes in at 0.50% or more, we could see SPY squeeze even higher.
In the meantime, the market may move sideways—but names like RKT have the potential to take off.
To Your Trading Success,
AG
